Patrick Ndlovu

Biography

Patrick is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Management at Concordia University of Edmonton. He has a PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Antwerp and a Masters in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Alberta. Patrick has interests in labour market research and application of quantitative analytics for business decision making. He has vast industry experience, having worked for over 10 years with the Government of Alberta as a senior economist in various ministries, and eventually as a manager of research and analytics in the Treasury Board and Finance ministry. In addition, Patrick has international experience, having worked for 5 years in monitoring and evaluation for international development research and non-governmental organizations in Southern Africa. 

Patrick’s current research looks at labour market outcomes in the Canadian labour market. His research on the gender gap in job satisfaction was recently published in the Scottish Journal of Political Economy. His other ongoing research looks at the effects of minimum wage policies in Alberta and Canada, as well as labour market outcomes associated with work from home. Patrick has other peer-reviewed journal publications, based on his previous research on: labour supply effects of government social grant programs; labour productivity and technical efficiency in agricultural technology adoption; cost effectiveness of agricultural input relief delivery methods; and analysis of food security determinants in the context of gender-specific household asset ownership.

Patick is passionate about teaching and training future professionals and leaders, while developing research insights on contemporary economic issues facing communities.
